Our current stage is focused on creating a training toolbox to engage and train young adult offenders in the European project and European values, it is led by Merseyside Expanding Horizons

It is a result of a collaborative work on revising, updating, and adapting already existing non-formal education guidelines and training methodologies to encourage young people to participate in the democratic process and in society, and then adapt them to young people deprived of their liberty and young people from disadvantaged areas.

It’s main goals are to:

  •         reduce the hiatus between the so-called system world of justice professionals and policy makers and the lived world of the young people
  •         to translate system questions and language to the reality, language and lived world of the young people deprived of their liberty and young people from disadvantaged areas;
  •         create the conditions for the bottom-up approach, which entails mapping information, finding suitable methods and tailoring the information to the language and lived world of the young people deprived of their liberty and young people from disadvantaged areas;
  •         create awareness, encourage and enhance the participation of young people in policy design regarding European Youth policies;
  •         by developing and implementing a strategy from the ground up, supported from the top by all the partner organisations, to promote the representation of the voice of young people that are deprived of their liberty and young people from disadvantaged areas in the EU youth policies;
  •         create adapted tools for learning that are tailor-made according with the daily realities and language of young people deprived of their liberty and young people from disadvantaged areas;
  •         contribute with a new toolbox to the already existing offer targeting the learning community for trainers and youth workers/volunteers in order to share, debate and increase the quality of educational methods in their daily work.

Our target group is young people deprived of their liberty and young people from disadvantaged areas.

Our short-term results are:

State of the art report – map of good practices where partners map, capture, and adapt already existing non-formal education guidelines and training methodologies to encourage vulnerable young people to participate in the democratic process and in society, identifying opportunities and strategies that already exist for the development of the Toolbox, gaps and recommendations for this specific area of training.

Training toolbox to engage and train young adult offenders in the European project and European values.

A short, practical and innovative training, tailor-made for this specific group, translating the issues and language of the system and policies into the reality, language and lived world of young people deprived of their liberty.

Focusing on merging non-formal education guidelines and training methodologies that encourage young people from vulnerable groups to participate in the democratic process and in society, and then adapting these practices to young people deprived of their liberty.

The aim is to increase the knowledge of these young people about the European project and thus to encourage and empower their participation in the design of policies related to European youth policies.
